Founded in 2003, USGBC Central Texas-Balcones Chapter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to promoting the use of green building and sustainable development practices to local, regional and state government, educational institutions, those involved in the residential and commercial construction, development and realty sectors, and others who might influence the implementation of these practices. Chapter members include building and associated industry professionals from Austin, San Antonio, Waco, Rio Grande Valley and the surrounding 72 counties.
The Chapter hosts year-round monthly meetings, LEED workshops, exam prep courses, and building tours/mixers on sustainable technologies and applications and offers valuable networking opportunities for the region’s green-building community. Learn more about our events.
USGBC Central Texas-Balcones is one of 79 Chapters nationwide serving as the local voice for the Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Green Building Council, a national non-profit organization working to make green buildings accessible to everyone. Founded in 1993, USGBC encourages sustainable building practices through its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environemtnal Design) green building program, a third party verification framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
