Reed would like to join the regional board of the USGBC to help bring green building and green business together and get more directly involved in developing the green building community in Texas. His “Environmental Activist” family provided me with early exposure to environmental issues such as nuclear and solar power and the importance of communication and transparency in helping us make important choices for our future. In 2008, Reed started the Texas Green Network, the first “green” Chamber of Commerce in Texas and one of the very first of its kind in the U.S. He has taken a particular interest in helping grow and develop the “green” business community in Texas and in helping to accelerate the adoption of sustainable business practices in the business community as a whole. Reed co-hosts Shades of Green, Austin’s live, green talk radio show on KOOP, 91.7FM, which covers topics like energy efficiency, renewable energy, green business, climate change, green building and many other eco-subjects. Reed also produces the annual Austin Earth Day Festival at Mueller in April and maintain ongoing partnerships with numerous environmental organizations, collaborating on local candidate eco-forums and other local events. Professionally, he is a “green” real estate agent. Reed is a certified EcoBroker® and holds the National Association of REALTORS® GREEN designation. Previously, Reed spent 12 years doing sales, sales management and marketing in the technology sector, five years in banking and commercial finance and five years in marketing communications. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Marketing in 1992.P.S.. Reed now lives in central Austin with his wife Lisa, son Zac, daughter Lucy and dog Willy.
